Energy
A comprehensive and balanced energy strategy is necessary to create a modern, efficient, secure, and integrated energy system. The United States needs to foster research and development of new technologies and to expand the nation’s resources and capabilities so that over time the U.S. can increase the use of more efficient, less expensive, environmentally friendly, secure, and internally controlled sources of energy. These goals must be achieved in a responsible way by balancing the desire and the ability to achieve the nation’s energy goals. Technological advances should be supported and promoted without placing undue burdens on or causing damage to the economy by diminishing the ability of individuals, companies, and states to operate and to compete in a global economy.
Currently, the available energy sources are natural gas, clean coal, nuclear, oil, and other renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy in limited supplies, due to cost effectiveness and limited technology.
