Like Drinking from a Fire Hose
The phrase like drinking from a fire hose is used in reference to being inundated with an overwhelming amount of information.
Example:
When the lobbyist asked the new delegate what his first Session had been like the delegate replied that it was like drinking from a fire hose. Each day he had been inundated with enormous amounts of new and detailed information about legislation and it had been extremely difficult to learn on the fly.
