Germane

 

The term germane describes something that is relevant to the bill, subject, or issue under consideration.  

 

Example:

 

The chairman would not allow politicians to hijack the discussion with issues that were not germane (relevant) to the business at hand in order to score political points.

On the subject of the pending bill or other business; a strict standard of relevance.
