Free speech is one of the cornerstones of the United States as a representative government and must continue to be supported. Free speech is one of the fundamental and constitutionally protected rights granted to all American citizens. The U.S. government requires the active involvement of educated and free citizens in order to function, and that involvement includes the necessity for citizens to communicate freely with the government and with his or her fellow citizens.
