Bilateral Opposition

 

The term bilateral opposition refers to opposition from both sides.

 

Example:

 

The Republican Party is currently struggling with bilateral opposition.  It is opposed on the left by the Democratic Party, for being too conservative, and on the light by the Tea Party, for being too liberal or moderate.
