Adjourn
To adjourn is to formally close (end) a legislative day.
Example:
Member: “Mr. President, I move to adjourn until 10 am tomorrow morning.”
President: “There is a motion to adjourn until 10 am tomorrow morning. Do I hear a second?”
Another Member: “Aye”
President: It is moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. All those in favor signify by saying, Aye.”
Membership in Favor of Adjourning: Voice vote saying, Aye.
President: “All those opposed signify by saying No.”
Membership Opposed to Adjourning: Voice vote saying No.
President: “The motion carries. This meeting is adjourned.”
